Amit Gautam is Deputy Technical Principal in Dams & Hydropower at SMEC India. A civil engineering graduate with a postgrad in Rock Engineering from IIT Delhi, he is also pursuing a part-time Ph.D. With 12+ years of national and international experience, he specializes in rock engineering applications in hydropower—tunnels, caverns, slopes, and both concrete and embankment dams. He has worked with the Government of India on onsite projects in neighboring countries. Proficient in FEM, LEM, and FDM tools, with a keen interest in geotechnical earthquake studies, Amit is Vice Chair of ICOLD YPF and Chair of INCOLD YPF.
