Maria Bartsch is a civil engineer with a M.Sc. and Dr.Eng degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. She has more than 30 years’ experience in dam engineering and is currently a dam safety specialist at the national dam safety authority in Sweden. 

Dr Bartsch is an ICOLD past vice president zone Europe, past president SwedCOLD and is currently chairing the ICOLD ad committee on Gender Diversity and Inclusion.
